One of the big problems I have in Left 4 Dead is the griefers I encounter. This happens in all my online games, but I play L4D the most, so that's where I encounter it the most. It happened to me twice tonight. One of the times was when we started a vote to kick a player. He used a molotov on the rest of the team when we did that. The thing is that we only called the vote because he was constantly calling kick votes against the rest of us, so he had no right to be angry. The other instance occurred when one of our teammates backtracked and startled the witch. He definitely knew it was there, and we ended up losing the match because he got incapped. Anyway, has anyone else had a problem with griefers? They are probably the single biggest problem in L4D, so what other games are they a total pain in?

Halo 3 can be a real pain in the ass, and the problem is if the TEAM has a amount of team kills whoever does it next gets kicked, i've been kicked for killing a team killer by the TK'er then you recieve an message going HAHAHAHAHA! N00B! GO PLAY *insert random game here* U SUCKZ!

RTS games when your in a team when tehy jsut sit there and shell you with artelliry that gets annoying
Runescape can be bad, with people following you around harassing you, but they can't really do anything to you except piss you off.
@dowekeller I think that still counts as griefing.
@WILDMAMMOTH, sure, but not nearly as bad as intentional team-killing, that really sucks. I've been really lucky, I've been accidently killed by team-mates in a heavy fire sort of situation, it's understandable.
but there's no excuse for intentionally undermining your team.
@dowekeller True, and team killing seems to be something I run into a lot...
I haven't had any problems with it, since I tend to play solo a lot when I go online.
I don't play any online games with people I don't know, so I haven't encountered that problem yet.
They've been a major pain in every game I've ever played, and they find some really creative ways to do it. Some of the most obnoxious methods get nerfed, but not all.

For example, in Flyff, monsters just pick one person to attack and keep attacking that person until they are dead. So there was one griefer who agroed several low level giant monsters and led them back to the newbie town, then logged off so they would look for new targets. This resulted in a nerf to limit the distance a monster would follow.
@LordXenophon Wow, that is a pretty elaborate case! Some griefers go to a lot of effort just to piss people off.
Back when I played DAoC, one of the things that happened to me alot was people randomly auto-following me. They wouldn't talk to me. They wouldn't attack anything. They did nothing...they just followed me. Everywhere. It wasn't actually hurting me in any way but it was annoying to have that person there all the time....shadowing me....not answering my questions about "why are you doing this."

So, I got mean. I'd look at the person's level (which was always lower than mine) and then go find a group of aggro monsters that were grey to me but at least green to my shadow. Then, I'd merrily skip through the mobs and giggle as my shadow was slaughtered.

Or, I figured out that I could sling the followers through portals or off of cliffs if I ran towards them quickly and then changed direction suddenly. There was just enough rubberbanding to the follow feature to slingshot them off into either another area or to their doom at the bottom of said cliff. :D
@arislyn, a similar thing happens in Runescape, and yeah, the griefers there are almost always very low level chars, go into the mines where the scorpions live, and hilarity ensues. Griefing griefers FTW.

But I and I'm sure You'd much rather just play the game and not be bothered by people who don't even care about the game anyway.
@dowekeller The first and only time I played Runescape, some jackass got my killed by a bear, so he could steal my stuff.
@arislyn LMAO! I remember once when I was playing FFXI, we were in a group, and one of us went AFK, and was auto-following me. Turns out if you sit down when someone is following you, they will start to run off as you sit. And he ran into a group of monsters that killed him.
I had no idea this would happen, but it was still really funny.
@dowekeller The thing was, I never could figure out why people were doing it. It's not like they were benefiting from it and it wasn't really hurting me. It was simply annoying as all get out. So, why do it?
@EarthboundX That's hilarious! Unfortunate if you don't know about it and do it accidentally to a friend....but still funny. :D
I cant play L4D, i actually am pretty jumpy so that game does not sit well with me.
@Jwallwalrus Have you tried it? It is not really a horror game, and it really doesn't try to make you jump.
Griefers, thats hilarious........i love beating the crap out of griefers. Means they have no real skill and use cheap tactics to win.
Most of my online multiplayer is done with RL friends - not that I do much online MP anymore anyway - so that rules a lot of it out for me... Years ago, I'd get a lot of hassle with people on Quake World matches - didn't like getting their asses handed to them on a plate, so they'd just switch to voyeur mode and spam the screen with messages... at least once you were playing in the leagues that sorta stuff stopped.
